Week 2

Week 1 - Rat took the brunt of things and I focused on healing but also trying to keep things clean. It was decent first week for me but things can get better at home and focus needs to move to other things we need to be on.

For week 2, goal is
- I heal sustainably
- Rat helps sustainably with the two naps he needs.
- we find solution to get some relief for him. Nap/ study / me time.

- red tape

- AI

- Automate food, automate lists.

- Rat / masseuse / massager

- until nanny, I can do 3 hours morning, 3 hours night when he takes naps. And focus a little bit more on my health.
- after nanny (9-3) , I should probably do the hours after nanny (3-11) 8 hours and Rat should do (11-7)
8 hours.
- but that would mean 7-9 would be for Ajey to get ready and get Zaya out and the baby should be like half managed by me. This is not great cuz Ajey would do whole night and then Zaya in a stretch.
- his time to nap would be ideally from 10 - 12 am, and 8-11 pm. His time to study / me time would be from 12 to 8.

- once he starts work, this gets tricky,

Day 1
- I tried to do a few diaper changes and few feeds, more than yesterday.
- I logged in at work and tried to catch up on some AI.
- I was tired as heck in the evening and tried to catch up on sleep so I can continue with AI later
- sanitized bottles
- pump

Rat
- dropped and picked z
- got 2 hours of sleep
- got kendamil
- took scooter for a walk
- threw trash
- bathroom / mats

He never got his second nap.
I did not continue with AI cuz it was better for us all to go to bed at the same time so z could settle down. It's 10 pm - we are all in bed. One thing I wish could have been better is Rat sleep.

Arvind helps a lot, he just picks up whatever he can to help like putting away dishes, feeding z , whatever is necessary. It's going to be hard once he leaves.

Day 2

It's 7.06 am.
Last night I cleaned the pump and next set of bottles.
Left to bed early so Z can get to bed.
Rat did the night shift.
I woke up at 6, packed something of a lunchbox, made something of a breakfast, put the dishes in the dishwasher, took a bath, cleared the fridge out a bit, cleaned the counters.

Baby has been sleeping in his bassinet in the hall allowing me to do all this

I am hoping Rat feels a little relief today.

I'm not sure I've healed. I've numbed the pain with Tylenol, and will be moving to motrin today.

He's got trash, maybe laundry, picking up z to do.
He needs a big nap.

I have to feed baby, change diapers and focus a bit on this data engineering/ AI stuff today.

Baby was calm in my shift. I took a nap and took most of the responsibilities. Rat got some time to read and nap. I think we are getting to equilibrium but night shifts are harder so we still need to find ways to keep Rat feeling less tired from it.

I started on some AI work but second shift I was not able to do much.

Schedule looks like this.

11pm to 6am - Rat
8am to 5pm - me
  - 9am to 10am - Rat with Z.
5pm to 7pm - Rat
8pm to 11pm - me

Rat takes some time even though he could get to his naps earlier, but that's on him.

My schedule look like

Wake up / bathe / brush
Move bassinet / diaper station and formula machine to hall.
Clean bottles / pump
Breakfast / z lunch
Dishes
Work / R clean / R diaper / R milk
Pump / lunch
Work
Basic cleaning
Changing dressing
Nap
Work
Z dinner
Dishes
Pump clean / use
Bottles for night
Trash check

I'm stopping bp checks. Continuing on pain meds.
I am able to get a sense of where the stitches are now. I'm still bleeding - just gonna wait for a few weeks and see if it heals.

Day 3 and 4

Demo prep

Hackathon / demo
Looking to understand a few things
- IaC for AWS
- dataproc / emr
- use cases
- AI techniques / connections / memory

How I'll try contributing
- start with Claude , new AWS account

For later
- IaC for GCP
- debugging
- splunk

Day 3
Just as I thought I'd get a sense of my schedule things change. rat's timings change everyday. Even my timings changed.

Today he did most of the work.
I tried a little AI stuff, a little demo stuff, a little demo creation - nothing much.

I have to persist with it after the hackathon to develop my skills.

At home, I just tried to manage Rian for a small bit and it's come down to formula bottles sometimes hourly.
Z is creating a lot more tantrums and it's taking a lot of effort to be patient with her

I'm still healing, still feeling unreasonably tired suddenly and needing a nap to let me body feel the tiredness.

It's 11.50 now - I'm excusing myself since today and tomorrow are hack days.
Rat went to Costco / Indian store, picked and dropped z , gave me food.

Day 4 will also just be about going with the hack and then the demo.
Day 4 - skillathon was a bummer. I dropped out of the hackathon too. I was tired, and it was hard to focus and be resourceful. A few shout-outs and visibility but what really matters is impact , confidence and corresponding growth.

The day was also haphazard in that rat never got a nap. I had shivers and crashed, late. We moved the passport and birth certificate a bit. Got in touch with a Canada immigration person. We started nanny search - we spoke once on logistics and once for our emotions. Logistics , we thought we could do alternate feeds at night so we can manage mornings. I think it's better to start nanny while Rat is here so maybe we can give him a chance towards getting time for himself.

I hope I can get back to focus. I hope I heal better. I hope we both feel well rested. I hope I feel tired less often.

The emotional part was obviously how much I appreciate Rat. I simply can't imagine doing this with anyone but him. He's my rock.
He had bottles ready.

Day 5,6,7 will be
- healing / cleaning myself
- food / sleep
- pump / stimulate
- clean pump / bottles / dishes
- sitz bath / clean bathroom
- some time for ai and ml.
- some time for red tape
- some time for Canada
- nanny

- put things away.
- neighborhood / shipping.

I would love for us to get into a predictable schedule where I know Rat is getting space for himself and I'm doing enough and resting enough

I like structure and hope Rat can help with that.
